Expecting patients with dental insurance to pay upfront and be reimbursed defeats the purpose of having insurance in the first place.

I was referred to have a tooth extraction. The records were sent over by dentist. The oral surgeon came in and sat down and said yes he could pull the tooth. My insurance company was billed for an oral exam. The oral surgeon did not even look in my mouth. Insurance company stated it should have been billed as a consultation. Called oral surgeon's office and was told they were not changing billing code. This is insurance fraud.
